Bio: The new Ibex EP on Juicy Lucy Records, “Until I leave Detroit,” is inspired by Ibex’s relentless quest for new and provocative sounds. The four songs have very different feelings behind them, but all have that recognizable Ibex vibe “Peak Moments” starts with a nice kick drum and a buzzing bass line. A deep chord helps build it up into what the title indicates, a peak moment. Towards the end a very Eastern sounding percussion groove tops it off. “Catacomb” starts with a nice melodic chord riff and some percussion, then gets deeper with a rhythmic bass line and some nice synth leads. “Freedom Africa” takes us on a trip with some Afro-Brazilian style rhythms and vocal hooks, then utilizes some choice samples to get a deep house groove going. “Fruits Ripe” starts with a percussive intro and some heavy drum work, then come the chord riffs which introduce a tribal vocal hook. The end result is an arrangement that should get any dance floor moving! Enjoy!

Bio: Marissa Guzman presents another unique collaboration with Demarkus Lewis & Jeremiah McAllister (Mr. A.L.I) & Jason ‘Jayceeindamix’ Ferguson ‘Original Vocal Mix’ Co-written by Jeremiah McAllister (Mr. A.L.I), Jason Ferguson and Marissa Guzman, this deep groove not only has a unique sound, but it seems to pull you in so you are one with the music. From the moment Marissa heard the song’s distinctive rhythm (drums by Jason ‘Jayceeindamix’ Ferguson), she had ideas flowing. Jere McAllister worked his magic with that infectious melody on the keys, which combined with the beat, was a perfect foundation for the vocal harmonies and inspirational message of the lyrics: when life brings you down, it’s vital to maintain hope and ‘keep your head to the sky.’
‘Digital Rissa Mix’ Demarkus Lewis does it again, this time with a more ‘electro house’ sound on this bangin remix. Almost the polar opposite of the original mix, Demarkus took Marissa’s vocals to another level. The ‘Digital Rissa Mix’ is exactly that, a robotic sounding effect on Marissa’s voice is used to compliment the danceable baseline behind it for an overall stimulating experience.

Bio: This unique song has a funky deep house feel with unsuspecting melodies layered throughout the track. The remix has more a more rhythmic sound. This is Ibex’s first official release on Juicy Lucy with many more to come.

Bio: This distinctive song is a mixture of Jazzy, Latin sounds with a unique and danceable beat. It’s layered with sexy and harmonious vocal melodies, which have been proven to get people dancing when Marissa sings it live! ‘The whole dance floor started doing the hustle when I sang this song!’ Thinker’s Aid to the SouLLess Monkeynuts Mix: The remix has proven to be more daring from an artistic standpoint. It’s not your typical blend of sounds, since it has more of a Nu-Jazz feel and seems to stretch the musical boundaries. This remix definitely has that one of a kind Chicago style!
